My experience of putting the wrong type of fuel in my tank
Standing at the petrol station, you look down and realise that you have just placed petrol into a diesel car. Driving away from a petrol station your car starts to make a funny noise, and a wave of despair fills you as you realise that you have placed the wrong fuel into your vehicle. Regardless of when you realise that you are a victim of misfuelling, a sudden realisation will pass over you as the weight of your action starts to process. What happens if your car is pumped and run on fuel with the wrong specification? Filling up your car with the wrong fuel can wreck your car engine. The efficiency and the performance of the engine are drastically reduced and at the same time, it can cost you a sizeable amount by the way of repair costs.

Thus, it is of paramount importance to check the cruel and make yourself doubly sure that it is the fuel which is recommended for your car.Misfueling can be a real pain in the wrong place. The stringent anti-emission laws being presently introduced makes the situation even worse if you happen to fall into the emission control drive by the environment authorities. The wrong fuel can wreck the catalytic converters and the fuel systems which are installed in the exhaust pipes to prevent the emission of toxic exhausts.

Traces of Diesel in petrol engines or vice versa can cause a lot of damage to the engines since the working of both these engines is diagrammatically opposite to one another.

The most efficient solution is to pump out the fuel from the fuel tanks and to thoroughly clean the combustion chambers and the fuel lines. The earlier versions of diesel engines can be able to tolerate up to 30 % petrol mixture. If the diesel is pumped into a petrol engine, it could lead to the seizure of the pistons and also stalling of the engines. Diesel can also destroy the catalytic converters in the exhaust pipes and cover it. This ultimately makes them ineffective in converting the carbon monoxide into CO2.The first thing which you should do as soon as you
The first thing which you should do as soon as you realise that the wrong fuel is filled is to stop the vehicle immediately. Check how much fuel is there in the fuel tank and if possible remove them at the earliest. Do not start the car under any circumstances. It can also lead the warranty of your car getting cancelled. The entire cleaning process can cost up to 100 to 200 dollars. But there is no other way. Nobody expects that they will place the wrong fuel in a petrol tank, which is why misfuelling can be so frustrating. While you cannot protect yourself from making a mistake when not paying attention, you can purchase a device that will fit on your petrol tank making it physically impossible to ever misfuel regardless of how attentive you are while fuelling your car tank.
